Foundation’s Need Awareness

While each person is a precious gift of God’s creative genius, Special Needs individuals and their Care Givers are exceptionally important; Special Needs Individuals because they teach us how to be concerned about others, Care Givers because they take care of people with Special Needs. Government financial support of Care Givers is declining resulting in a parallel decline in the quality-of-Care Givers.

Executive Summary

Aware of the significant growing need for financial assistance to aid and benefit caregivers; increase their knowledge through formal education, their competency and capabilities through experience, the Kimbel Durham Foundation, will create, develop, and grow a sustainable, not for profit, foundation to provide funding to caregivers for educational purposes.  We exist to provide education grants, and resources regarding care giving for individuals called to serve developmentally disabled persons and their families

Foundation’s Reason for Being

The Kimbel Durham Foundation exists for the sole purpose of increasing the quality of Special Needs Care Giving through educational grants, bonus, and compensation subsidy to Care Givers.

Strategy

Develop funding sources and mechanisms which further the ability of the Kimbel Durham Foundation to be a well-respected and widely known charitable foundation for administering financial aid and assistance to caregivers.  We seek to develop methods and self-funding mechanisms which generate the financial capability to provide educational funding and financial aid for caregiver education and professional development

Technology and Caregiver Access

We will build an effective technology driven caregiver assistance system to provide information and application for funding for caregivers.  Our funding model will focus on education, online resources, online assistance, and online administration, as well as a user-friendly APP to provide needed information and connect caregivers with necessary and appropriate financial resources

Board of Directors and Executive Leadership

An organizational structure will be designed and developed to direct, manage and operate the foundation.  Governance and fiduciary responsibility will be solely the role of the KD Board of Directors. The Founder, CEO and President will be Rev. Dr. Bob Durham.  The initial Board of Directors will consist of three additional members, making a total of five Board of Director members. Of the five Board of Director members, three will always consist of Rev. Dr. Bob Durham and/or, upon his retirement or demise, three of his relatives. The Board of Directors will steward fundraising, grant making and administration of KDF practices and procedures

Board of Advisors

A Board of Advisors will be established.
